What's amazing is how much time can pass while simultaneously how much time we have left. What's even crazier is how many times we get mad at ourselves for how much time we waste knowing in the same second we can make a choice to start doing something.
Think about it how many times have you sat and thought man I wasted the whole day, but then don't make a actually choice to eat up and do something in that same thought process! In this new year i plan to challenge myself! I'm not going to make a promise saying I'm going to do this that and third. Instead I challenge myself to stay on task. Everyday my job is to make a conscious effort and decision to do something productive.
5 Timely Steps to Make In the Right Direction
1. Grab a planner and write! Plan - Execute - Evaluate - Repeat
This was something I did too often. I do apologize for all the planners out there who I left incomplete. This time around my challenge is to write every week in my planner and make a conscious decision to open it and look at it. For the first month of January I already written everyday in it! Now for the goals in it I can say I completed 10% for the month. This might seem disappointed but this year change perspective! That's 10% more conscious things I've completed now let's look at what I didn't do, what got in the way and
2. Set an alarm or two!
This might sound crazy or even narcissistic but the more alarms the better! I have two alarms to wake me up as well as 4 throughout the day with captions that remind me to be grateful, praise God, work harder, and never stop dreaming. You be surprise just how much these little things help especially on a day where you don't feel as motivated or may have gotten into a tussle with your boss or love one.
3. Plan some fun things to do!
Yeah we hard the phrases hustle hard and team no sleep. Let's be real though, when you have a routine that's work work work you need something to break it apart just a little. Whether it's going to the movies, running, dancing or reading a good book! It's okay to go ahead a plan to do once or twice a month. Activities that are opposite of your daily routine helps your creative mind and allow you to relax more which in return helps productive. One quote is true all work and no play makes for a dull day!
4. Take one step at a time.
So many phrases in life that we must grab and realize it's really true! Don't over plan yourself and don't multitask! Yes, most of us live in the 20th century where technology is everywhere, we can write an email look at Facebook, while listening to music! That might seem great but in reality it becomes a bad habit, like having too many web browser up! Girl, your not even using it right now, your writing. Why do we do that? Thinking we are getting so much things done but in actuality we aren't! We are wasting more time.
Side Note // Right now, I can say I am writing this while listening to music on the train heading to 42nd street. In some instance you can do things like that when there is a true balance. I can't write and be on Instagram because when I get on Instagram I will lose two minutes just scrolling an endless feed. That's what we don't want anymore! I'm utilizing my train ride. Usually filled with classic showtimes (dancers coming on the train and performing for riders for those who don't live in New York or never visited).
5. Dust your shoulders off.
You may wonder why this is apart of the step! Reason because this is the hardest one, to dust the mistake off get up and try again! We sit in our disappoint for way to long! Oh woe is me!! Nooooooo, GET UP! When you make a mistake dust your shoulder off and try again! Let's be honest we are always goin to make mistakes, we are not perfect, why do you think God sent his son Jesus to die for us! We have been washed clean by the blood of Christ! We have to understand what that means! We are free, we are redem by our redeemer! I'm not saying you can't think about it, all I'm saying you can't sit in it! Instead look at the mistake see why it happen and make a conscious choice to change in the right direction. Live your life! Even if it's the same mistake your doing over and over again! trust me when I say when one day you are going to fed up and say enough is enough and change! You have grace!
